Acute intervention prevented fish kill in Lidingö
When winter brings thick ice and heavy snow cover, oxygen depletion can severely impact aquatic ecosystems. In February, Ekholmsnässjön in Lidingö suffered from acute oxygen deficiency, creating a critical situation with a high risk of mass fish kills.
The Solution: Rapid deployment of the airTURBO RV2 – an aerator specifically developed for the Nordic climate. By effectively re-oxygenating the water mass, the situation was stabilized before the ecosystem collapsed.
– Jerker Idestam-Almquist, Water Strategist at the City of Lidingö
By focusing on in-situ measures, the team succeeded in reversing the downward trend and securing a safe environment for the lake's fish population for the remainder of the winter season.
